Any good MMORPG apart from having the standard features, always implements some unique features of its own. If this is not done then there would be no reason for players to be attracted to that particular game. One of the innovations of MWO is its amazing mounts system. There are many mmorpgs which have pet systems and many that allow to ride the pets, but there are few which allow mounts specifically for riding and let players have upgrades from equipping mounts. It can be said in that sense that mounts are more like another accessory rather than a pet.
Although the mount system allows for varying gameplay and lets us have some interesting effects and stats, honestly speaking its a pain in the *** keeping the mount fed and healthy. It becomes okay after the mount becomes an adult as he can be fed easily from forage, but when its a child..lets just say u gotta deep pockets(in-game ofcourse).
The Mounts
Now before I go on as how to feed them and take care of these little buggers, lets first see what the little buggers are.
The mounts in MWO are Mambowiki, Kodophant, Colecanth, Hawkpard, Wingsteed, Unicorn, Coredragon, and Golden Phoenix. The first five are the common mounts that players have a chance of getting, the unicorn is ver rare and its birthing is announced on the country board, and the coredragon and golden phoenix are super rare, almost none are birthed from normal eggs and are only available from special eggs from high level elites and bosses and specially the Saint Guardian Beast. Now lets look at them one-by-one.
Mambowiki:
Whatever others may say, this one looks to me like an ostrich or emu. I don't like it much coz it looks like a half starved devil bird, but speaking as a neutral onlooker, its a good mount. Then again all the mounts a re good. Please check the table for the stats on this one. I'll just say that its a good mount for archers o have as it adds to their dodge.

Kodophant:
Modeled after a combination of rhino and elephant no doubt, this mount does wonders for defense users a.k.a the defense warriors. It looks cool an tough although the textures used for it give it a babyish look. But its really useful and all. Look at the stats.

Colecanth:
A multicolored rainbow fish, this is one of the cutest mounts in the game. Favorite of most female players and most skill users, its got really powerful skill attack boosters. The fact that it an float on land is really useful and disturbing at the same time. But never mind the walking fish as long as you get all those stats.

Hawkpard:
No doubt the chimera combo of a hawk and a wolf, this mount is a kick ass one with power for the hitters. Suitable for the offensive warrior, this mount powers up the hits and gives some serious blows. It looks good from the side and the back but butt-ugly from them front.

Wingsteed:
My personal favorite, it adds to your charm and makes your skill speed faster than a speeding bullet. It is a very popular mount and is even so special that a pair of these pull the marriage carriages. They look so cool all decorated and puffed up. Awwwww....

Unicorn:
Ugliest of all the mounts, it is also very rare(maybe thats why its so ugly, to balance the appeal factor) gives really good skills and the hp leech is super. Its got six legs so you gotta watch out and tyry not having it eat out of your palms coz the spikes hurt. Ouch!
P.S. It does not resemble the mythical unicorn from any angle whatsoever.

Coredragon:
Ah the fabled drgon beast of legend. Not really, but being super rare and ultra powerful its in high demand. That red dwon of hair looks really cool and the glowing feet add to the effect of power. Can only be obtained from special mount eggs rom St. Gurdian Beast.

Golden Phoenix:
Different from the legendary phoenix sine it cant revive and has no fire powers, it looks cool nevertheless and the stats are really amazing. Its a bird I think coz although its got legs, it floats and has a lot of flowy body parts.

Getting OneOk, now that we know a little about mounts, lets see how to get one. There are basically two ways to get a mount. Either buy it from the Mount Keeper in Palm Beach(Dynasty)/Beverly Hills(Empire) or buy it from other players. Buying from the Keeper costs 400k gold. Buying from players costs vary but never goes beyond 400k if the mount is a 0 lvl child and if its not a Unicorn or Coredragon or G.Phoenix. For those prices can go beyond 2 or 3 mil. Frankly speaking its better to buy from players as that way you can get the mount of your choice, spend less, and save the hatching time. But if you want a cheap Unicorn then keep buying mount eggs and hatching them till your broke. Then sell the other mounts and keep the Unicorn. That way you will only be wasting your time and nothing else. Feeding OneWell now that we know how to get a mount, we should start feeding it no? Coz it has to grow strong and healthy so you can ride it. If you have bought a mount from a player then you can directly start feeding it, but incase you have bought an egg you first need to hatch it. There are two ways to hatch an egg. Equip it and leave it on for three hours. During these three hours you must not fight monsters as that time will not count. Another way of hatching is using a Hatching Formula from the Item Mall. It costs 18 plats and hatches the mount in only five minutes as opposed to one-eighty minutes. After the mount hatches, its feeding time. As a child the mount feeds on powders. When it grows up at lvl 5, it turns into an adult and feeds on forage which can bought from the mount keeper in palm beach/beverly hills. The mount needs to finish its feeding cycle in order to advance to the next level. Each feed requires two stacks of the concerned powder. At lvl 0 the mount needs 10 feeds of normal powders to get to lvl 1, then 20 feeds of fine powders, then 20 feeds of perfect powders, then 20 feeds of excellent powdes and finally 10 feeds of fantastic powders. This will get it to lvl 5 and make it suitable for consuming forage and riding. Now honestly speaking feeding the mounts to lvl five is the chie pain-in-the-*** part o the whole deal. Powders are not very easy to obtain early on and cost a whole lot. There are many ways to get powders.1. Decompose weapons and armour to get powder2. Buy from other players3. Make by crafting Normal powder can be gotten by decomposing items upto lvl 12, fine powders can be gotten by decomposing items from lvl 13 to lvl 24, perfects come from lvl 25 t lvl 36, excellents come from lvl 37 to 48, and fantastics come from lvl 49 to 56.
