Extensive Guide on Mount Feeding (Where/How to get those damn powders!) For everyone that’s raising a mount, and apparently particularly for those on Overall, the main methods of obtaining powders are decomping items created by Living Skills or found by drops, and this guide will then go in depth on how to obtain them, as well as listing a standard market price. Note that these prices are based on current Genesis pricing and may be different elsewhere. While the living skill Crafting allows you to synthesize powders of a higher level, these powders are created at a ratio of 5:1 and are inefficient until the production of Fantastics where it then becomes necessary. Therefore for the earlier powders, we will focus on the living skills of Blacksmithing and Tailoring. There is also the method of buying powder boxes from item mall… don’t do it. You only get one stack of powder from each and which stack it is will be very random. *For Living Skills method, gauntlets are always the most efficient material to consumption item to make. Normal Powder +0 - > +1 Required Feeds: 10 Required Powder per feed: 20 Required Total Powder: 200 Levels of Items for decomposition: 1 – 12 Ah, the first and the easiest level to feed. But because it’s so easy to lvl and high level living skills no longer use normal powders, the market may thin out in the future and therefore it might become best to just produce this for yourself. It is always nice to have some spare in the warehouse as I find myself birthing eggs afk quite a lot and therefore need 20 normal powders just to unequip the mount. Method 1: Living Skills My preferred method for a continuous flow of normal powders, gathering and then creating inventories full of lvl 12 gauntlets often produce more then enough powders to get past this level. I prefer blacksmithing to tailor as tailoring gathering is far more complicated then blacksmithing. Lvl 12 Gauntlets produce 2-3 powders, and anything lower would provide subpar amounts of powder. Tailoring materials are found mainly in Sky/Sun City and Smithing materials can be all found in novice village mines. Method 2: Monster Drops Sky/Sun City - low lvl mobs here drop a mix of fine and normal powders and still isn’t efficient. Market Price: 10k per stack Fine Powder +1 -> +2 Required Feeds: 20 Required Powder per feed: 20 Required Total Powder: 400 Levels of Items for decomposition: 13 – 24 The beginning of your arduous journey, we have our wonderful fine powders. Also used for the lvl 4 Enchanting materials, fine powders are in high demand for any MWO economy. Method 1: Living Skills Just like normal powders, the production of inventories full of items to be decomped will provide a steady flow of powders for this feed. Try to create items lvl 20+ for maximum powder production. Again, smithing seems to be better then tailoring because of the convenience and simplicity of gathering materials. Tailoring Materials can be found in armed coast/hope oasis and Shadow Forest/Dragon Vale, whereas Smithing Materials require both ore from Goblin Village/Beast Camp mines as well as Method 2: Monster Drops Armed Coast/Hope Oasis – All items dropped here decomp into fine powders, but most below lvl 20 so Shadow Forest/Dragon Vale is preferable Shadow Forest/Dragon Vale – All items dropped here decomp into a good amount of fine powders and is the best place for fine powders if you wish to lvl and make money also. Hole I – Items dropped here decomp into both fine and perfect, I prefer the above methods but there’s chance of 24 sb from Archers. Market Price: 15k – 20k per stack Perfect Powder +2 -> +3 Required Feeds: 30 Required Powder per feed: 20 Required Total Powder: 600 Levels of Items for decomposition: 25 – 36 Yet another level just like fine powder, only longer -_-‘. Living skill enchants lvl 5+ will require perfect powders so also in high demand. Method 1: Living Skills Again, the production of inventories full of items to be decomped will provide a steady flow of powders for this feed. However, items above lvl 30 will require normal powder to create and inconvenient, and therefore I prefer to create lvl 25 items even though they only decomp a marginal amount of powders. Again, smithing seems to be better then tailoring because of the convenience and simplicity of gathering materials, although for items above level 30 require armour pieces to be smithed first and therefore a hassle to be avoided. Tailoring Materials can be found using the same materials as fine powders while higher level items will require materials from Hole II/III, Hawk Fall/Sky Garden and Goblin Tribe/Alaman, but these higher level items will also require normal powder to create and not feasible. Smithing Materials require both ore from Goblin Village/Beast Camp mines as well as Method 2: Monster Drops Hole II/III – Items dropped here decomp into perfects, and there is also the chance of finding level 24 sbs here. However the items are on the low end of powder production and you might want to look elsewhere if you want to focus on getting powders. Hawk Fall/Sky Garden – Good amounts of equips that drop gear that decomp into perfects, try to stay around the higher level mobs as the equipment levels are optimal there and also drop the rare 2nd job passive III’s worth about 200k each. Tunnel I - Good amounts of equips that drop gear that decomp into perfects, good time to start collecting Stream-cuts and Behemoth if you’re going that route for Excellent Powder. Tunnel II/III – A mix of perfects and Excellent, with the difficulty and demand of acquiring Excellents this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, drop rate is high too, again, Stream-cut and Behemoth abound. Tunnel II is usually more crowded but while Tunnel M is less populated, also leaves you open to pk by other faction. Beast Camp – Lower level mobs will drop equips that produce perfects, but I really prefer other areas due to other faction pking. Market Price: 20k - 30k per stack Excellent Powder +3 -> +4 Required Feeds: 40 Required Powder per feed: 20 Required Total Powder: 800 Levels of Items for decomposition: 37 – 48 The most highly demanded powder for mounts, although not so much so for living skills quite yet, Because so many Excellents are needed not only for this level, but also for producing Fantastic Powder, one can usually not get enough of Excellents while raising a mount. Many people will often reborn a mount before progressing with Excellent feeds as they’re the most valuable to obtain and will often spend a long period of time gathering the amount needed. Method 1: Living Skills One of the reasons Excellent powders are difficult to acquire is due to the difficulty of obtaining the materials for producing items lvl 37+ and also the amount of materials is highly inefficient. Therefore, living skills will now only provide a boost to acquiring powder and no longer a solid means of production. Smithing is IMO inefficient due to the necessity of armour pieces that require other powders and I would personally not go this path. Tailoring however provides a good boost with the availability of items that require just fine powder and Stream-cut and Behemoth. While at this point just gathering the materials is even MORE of a hassle, the materials will always be found along with Monster drops that decomp into Excellents and high level training. Tailoring materials can be found in all mobs starting Tunnel I. Method 2: Monster Drops The main way of obtaining the valuable Excellent powders, these locations are usually valuable leveling areas as well as places to collect equip and stream-cut/behemoth fabric. Beast Camp – The high level mobs drop only Excellent powder equips and I’ve found at a surprisingly high rate. At low 40s, I got a majority of my Excellent powders here with a necromancer letting just her summon kill. Empires have a natural disadvantage here due to pking, and the two bosses near the high level mobs often prevent one from making the best out of this area. Spirit Tomb – All drops are Excellents but mobs are generally spread apart and pking by opposite faction is undesirable. Still, one of the main places to find equip to decomp into Excellents. Royal Prison – While many rooms also contain bats that drop items that decomp into Perfects, Mage/Executioner rooms contain only mobs that drop Excellents and with the large number of mobs, becomes a very good source of Excellents… if you can survive.\ Golden Plain – I don’t hunt here very often, but with the low amount of mobs and not particularly amazing drop rate, there’s better places for Excellents. Vestige I – V – From my experiences in all five levels of Vestige, drop rate of items are not particularly high but each item produces around 2 Excellents, which is still better then the general 1 powder produced from each equip found in all other areas. *Possible Boost: If you leveled your Blacksmithing and Crafting skills using Lv1 Enchants, then this might be an useful way of utilizing them, by enchanting gears with 42+ lvl with 1 line, you will be able to always increase number of Excellent powders created by 1. Market Price: 50k – 100k Fantastic Powder +4 -> Adult! Required Feeds: 50 Required Powder per feed: 10 Required Total Powder: 500 (2500 Excellents) Levels of Items for decomposition: 49-56 Fantastic Powders are the hardest powder to come by and that’s mainly due to its general unavailability to be decomped from gear as high level gears remain very rare. In general, Fantastic Powder is made from Level 8 Crafting in a 1:5 Synching ratio from Excellent Powders, and therefore the collection of Fantastic Powders is more or less the same as collecting Excellent Powders. While the total number of powders required has gone down from the previous level, the methods of obtaining Fantastic Powder means that you should generally think of the level as requiring 2500 Excellents… not an easy task. Method 1: Living Skills As mentioned before, Crafting Lvl 8 is required to synch 5 Excellent powders into 1 Fantastic Powders and is the general method of collecting Fantastic powders. Therefore all methods remain the same as the methods of Excellent powders, smithing remains inefficient, whereas tailoring remains just a boost. Method 2: Monster Drops Vestige I – V – High lvl (50+) mobs will drop equips that decomp into Fantastics only VERY rarely (I’ve stayed in Vestige III+ for 2 weeks and got 1) and Vestige I has 1-3 high lvl mob spawns so it’s really only Vestige II+ that you can acquire these rare equips from. Hero *Note: Unidentified items can be decomposed at a standard rate, but identifying will waste a sapphire but usually allow for more fantastics. Market Price: 250k – 500k (More so if in extreme demand)
