which do you prefer? scythe or whip for summoners

i just wanted to know the opinions of people here about summoners' weapon, which do they prefer whips or scythe and why tnx...
this poll will help me and other summoners out there on which weapon we can use tnx

I use Scythe on my 41 Nature Guard purely because I only get decent stats on scythe drops. I would also assume that while they should have comparable damage over time, the scythe's spike nature might be better for agro control. Even if it isn't, Scythes are more cool looking

Scythes are more for Illusionist class types while Whips are for Necromancer trees. The legend whip set adds to pet attack and scythe adds crit aura, so up to you.

IMO, and I believe many other experienced players will agree with me, Pros will use Whips 100% of the time.

Analysis:
Attributes can be smithed/craftmaned onto both
Growing weapon attributes are constant for both

Scythes = 200-400 Extra Max AP
Much Slower Attack Speed
Very Marginal Skill AP

Whips = Low AP, with Min Max Spread very close
Medium Attack Speed
Solid Skill AP

So Pros tend to play with:
1. Min AP stone set-up
2. High + growing weapons

1. Because most people use dream amulet, and most don't have dream necky(nor want it because if not skill based, rather an IAS necky), there's an extra 100 min AP that only adds 50 avg dmg to a scythe with AP spread, but will in fact raise a whips AP to its max, and when you increase min ap more then max ap, you actually increase both. So therefore with necros, this allows you to, with min ap stones, use min ap just like you're increasing power for damage purposes. This overall increases your damages consistently and for quite a lot. Two notes to take in consideration, min ap set-up doesn't work with Illusionists because their passives increase their max quite alot (unless you have ridiculous amounts of min ap stones) and also, my experience is based off of archers, but whips vs scythes should be similar to bow vs gun.

2. Later on, and especially due to the benefits this 50 plat event has brought, experienced players will now all be achieving growing weapons of 10+. Since the physical damage added is CONSTANT, what then matters most is which weapon attacks faster to increase the damage. The 200-400 damage increase is very marginal, when the bonus from the gwep is around 1850 physical damage. In which case attack speed is the FAR more important trait.

Aside from pure casters, which btw DOES NOT include assasin, High + Physical GWeapons are clearly the way to go for both PVE and PVP. But there's still a desire to maintain a decent skill AP, in which case the solid skill damage on the whip is just icing on the cake.


As a wrap up in case you didn't read all of that rant,
Whip > Scythe because of higher attack speed, solid skill ap increase
the scythe's extra max damage doesn't matter as much with better gweps, and the slow speed is crippling, as well as the horrible skill ap.

im using whatever weapon is proving better at the moment. Right now its a scythe but once i get a better whip, i use it instead. etc.

i got with the scythe for an illu and whips for NG seems to work for me

Whip with a 6+ physical GW . The best is Legend Scythe stats on a Whip GW.

I use whip for necromancer master,purely because i use gold whip and need those extra stats open for my summon(extra +800 summonbeast dmg and increased summon attack speed lv3). Whip has also higher skill ap wich i need badly for my skills . Scythe is more like for illu class.

For warrior, I think that if you can get a gw legend axe, it gives you a huge tanking bonus.  If I am not mistaken, the 7 armor + leg axe GW renders a leech of 50% not 50/1000.  You would be giving up some of the damage you could do, but if you are a temple warrior, this could add significant survivability to your character.  Is my logic flawed?

aiyo Sword la.. Axe where got good.. axe so slow.. so damn slow... warrior is like archer, bow/sword wins too much on Gun/Axe..

not like summy, think leech set illu should go for chain with high lv phy soul, dodge/non-leech can go for scythe, then for healer.. you think those damn low skill ap bonus on scythe good for a healer??

Scythe because I chose Illusionist for my summoner.  Also, scythes are cool looking...whips are cool, but scythes are cooler.

Oddly enough i've found it to work well with whip for illus and scythe for nature gaurds, trick is just the attributes you go for when building your gears

building gear cost money tho , so in a poor man world , you want to kill as many as possible and as fast so really , a scythe

and a whip are for neco + (and people who like whips if u know what i mean)

IMO...always go the faster IAS wepon. The extra max AP you get from gun/axe/scythe do nothing in the long run. The faster you hit = the more damage you do in the long run anyways AND most importantly the fasster you hit = the more you leech.

Those slower weapons should be made obsolete

OH and BTW Wolv....i got a sword with ST Scythe stats and it FTW

lol my friends going to make a st sword with st scythe stats too but i mean it doesnt really matter us angels will always beat u warriors up =x
