Separe Buy/Sell Chat log

Do you think its a good idea for MWO to have separate Buying/Selling channel similar to country? or a tag like #1,2,3 but for selling and a filter for it to only show the tag and nothing else.

I agree since the merger of Aurora with Odyssey it has become a battle ground with ppl flaming, arguing and in general being jerks. From what ive heard this "was" Odyssey style and seems to be the new trend in Aurora, unfortunately.

The last time I replied to such a thread I was branded a NAY-sayer and things went ugly. But, as before kindly provide a concrete idea like 1) What would be the requirements to use such a chat? 2) If country chat can be abused then how will you prevent this new channel from being abused?
The reason why I want to bring this up because if we give a half baked idea chances are we might give the dev's a chance to screw us once again

and the all failed the motion.   Why?  Because there's not King feature, that it suppose to be, which regulates country chat and punishes those who abuse/violates them by suspending CC privileges.

i don't think the problem isn't "country chat's being filled with flaming, etc", it's more "the community isn't well knit or big enough for anyone to buy/sell anything immediately or effectively."

if we go with c.chat and extrapolate user population, you're down to like...15-20 people (when i'm on at least) that actively talk on c.chat (this is emp+dyna)..so the problem clearly isn't "people turn chat into flames and insults"....even if that were the case, there are people who constantly spam "wts/wtb" nonsense even when chats are completely dead.

wish list so people can sell you items in person or through AH wish list money deposits...like if you wanted stack of exc powders for 65k, then only thing you'll do is put it on the wish list while the seller drags the items inside a box and hit "complete transaction" which would remove the money from the wish list deposit to the mailbox.

I think both would help.

AH needs a complete overhaul. Last night I made a mistake of gifting the system 2M gold trying to move some gold between my Emp and Dyna account. And the reason it occurred is just not because I was dumb(which I am) but also because on the restrictions between Emp and Dyna trade. Agreed, they are opposite factions, but if there is a trade let it be a complete trade or none. Not something in between. I do understand that there is a mall item STAMP which was made for this specific trades, but again why would u make a lopsided trade-giveaway?

not to make you look silly...since i did that once before...

but why dont you just transfer nuggets....ie...setup a booth and sell the nuggets for 1 gold at a safe neutral area where you and your emp alt can do the transaction.....

btw, you can stack nuggets if you didnt' know that either.

Great idea on overhauling AH however I'm not sure if AH is the solution though. Here is my 2 cents why chat log "format" is better. With chat log, a player can negotiate with the buyer directly and a player can directly see the item from anywhere in the map without having to go back to town. Most of the time, I shut off my country chat, let my guild chat on and prefer to have a chat log dedicated to trading items even if the person is spamming the trade chat log with the same items. Maybe a hybrid of the two would be an awesome combination for trading items.

I enjoy the country chat but it can get out of control sometimes....

I think that should be more trade windows so there is less scam in large amounts of items!

Do you mean a chat channel that would allow players to link items for sale and if another player is interested, the item could be purchased from the Trade channel item link?  Kinda like setting up a booth in the chat channel but with an advertisement cost?

I've played a game that had a feature like that...can't remember the name but the idea isn't unorthodox.

My mistake for not being clear on my last post and mixing them together , AH and chat trade windows are two different entities. This forum thread is more in the line of chat window rather than AH. Since you introduce AH, then why not discuss both.
The idea is for players to trade in/out of town. Your idea of overhauling the AH is a great idea for people trading in town but I do think we need a separate chat channel for people trading while they are hunting. Back to my previous comment, I was thinking on the line of adding a very simple feature like adding a separate channel for trading, which has been suggested before in the past. Your "advanced chat" feature is actually even better but I doubt the fact that they will create any new cool feature if there is no money behind the work but I could be wrong.

Come to think about this issue, I don't think country chat is actually being abused. If I understand the country chat correctly then It is created for people to express themselves and share comments with other players. I think country chat is being utilized properly and people trading are actually the one spamming it therefore the need for separate chat window unless.... the developer of this game designs this game in the hurry and lump both feature into one instead of separating the two or I still do not understand what "country" chat really means.
To answer your question, we cant get around trade chat channel being abused and we shouldn't have to. I don't think there need to be a requirement or moderator for trading channel simply because limitation creates frustration and anger toward the moderator or the chat police. Let everyone free to express themselves in country/trade channel and let the community be the judge for his/her actions for incorrectly using the wrong channel.
