Annals of State War: Genesis 7.26.08

The battlefield of Golden Plains, shrouded in a gloomy veil, the seemingly perpetual dusk, the barren expanse, all quite fitting, perhaps, given that this week’s State War seemed to be a diaphanous specter of what it usually is. A veritable ghost-town, some might allude it to, lacking only the occasional errant knot of rolling tumbleweed and the chalky, parched skeleton of some unidentifiable animal.

Dynasty was again the victor this week, as many of Empire’s usual suspects were unexpectedly on hiatus. Hamie, a member of Dynasty, remarked that the highest level seen on the Empire side was a mere level 53. It was certainly a dull affair for the higher leveled members of Dynasty, who, like Hamie, were aching for a challenge and a chance to gain more glory.

It was the general sentiment of Dynasty that this State War was effortless to fault. The Empire defense was a fragile egg–the shell cracking easily under the slightest of strains, subsequently shattering, exposing the slight, soft, and helpless interior. Dynasty’s win was certainly no surprise today. Perhaps this is a portent to a pattern; Dynasty will continue its dominance during State Wars, while Empire prevails in Siege Wars. Let’s hope new life is breathed into both, and the victors less predictable.

Annals of State War: Genesis 7.19.2008

Balance. It’s a delicate thing, and it wavers like a dandelion plume in the breeze. Empire had been facing a series of demoralizing losses so one-sided that it was plainly obvious as to the outcome of the War even before it began. Less and less participants attended the events and more and more Empires were contemplating quitting. It was to remedy these dire straits that a handful of prominent, high level, and well equipped Dynasty citizens made the switch to Empire. The shift was made with high hopes of rallying the disheartened Empire citizens, balancing State War, and thus making it fairer and more fun.

The State War held on the 19th of July was again won by Dynasty. Whether or not a balanced State War was achieved remains to be seen, it’s an elusive thing, you see, the scale teetering to and fro, but certainly improvements have been made to narrow the gap between the two rival factions. It has been noted as well that participation from both sides has surged, so too has the intensity of competition as the outcome is no longer as predictable, nor the victor nearly as clear.

There’s still the nagging doubt, however, that a faction’s victory is contingent by the actions of a select few in the upper echelons. It’s absurd that the tides of war are so vastly shifted depending upon whether or not certain top ranked individuals appear for the fight. State War seems less about a war where participation by all citizens is key, but a war where the outcome rests on a select few high level potentates who are able to garner a lot of platinum points. What will happen if Thra, who can take on an attacking force of 30 Empire citizens and the dragon with relative ease, fails to show for the Dynasty side in a State War? Will it mean an unequivocal win for Empire?

It all remains to be seen. Until then, do join the next State War and battle for your side.

Adjustment to Schedule of Siege War and State War

We know that many European players are yearning for joining in Siege War and State War, and the current time for Siege War and State War is not very convenient for European players. Based on results of the poll we made on the forum, we shall make the following adjustment to the Schedule of Siege War and State War, starting from July 1st, 2008.

Siege War (USA): PST 19:00 – 20:00 will be held on first, third, fifth Wednesday of each month;
Siege War (EU): GMT+1 19:00 – 20:00 will be held on second and fourth Wednesday of each month;
State War (USA): PST 19:00 – 20:00 will be held on first, third, and fifth Saturday of each month;
State War (EU): GMT+1 19:00 – 20:00 will be held on second and fourth Saturday of each month;

We will mark these events on the calendar located on our homepage. You are welcome to check it to confirm the time of all activities in MWO.?

State War Catapult

Blacksmith Workshop among the guild buildings can be upgraded to be able to produce Catapult. The very first level of Catapult is called Ordinary Catapult. It’ll get improved as its upgrade goes further. Catapult can exist in the form of backpack item, so that it can be carried wherever accessible. Right click on the Catapult’s portable item form to transform it into a controllable fighting form.

Catapult was first used by Empire to attack Golden City of Dynasty. Empire intentionally shaped the Catapult into the appearance of a huge scorpion, which was meant to give Dynasty the implication that this great siege machine had great destructive poisoning power.

Catapult needs Ammo supplies which can also be produced in the Blacksmith Workshop. Ammo differs in power. The most destructive ammo comes from the most valuable resources. Double click to open Catapult, then drag and drop backpack ammo into the Catapult cartridge.

Tell your catapult a designated coordinates you want it to pitch power.

You can input the coordinates by holding Shift and right clicking on some map scene, or you can do that by opening the sketch map (Press Tab or M) and select a location.

Click Attack Button to enable Catapult’s uninterrupted bombardment. Then you can rest easy enjoying its unparalleled Attack Range and Attack Power together with an area of effect splashed damage.

People who use Catapult in a smart way will turn the warring situation largely to their advantage!
